“Teenage Wasteland: The Slasher Movie Uncut” by J.A.Kerswell – Book Review.

October 29

Before I begin my book review, I would just like to apologise for the big gap between this post and my last. I was recently asked if I would consider doing a book review so I have been spending most of my days reading! However, it’s definitely an experience I’d consider doing again.

The book I am talking about is called “Teenage Wasteland: The Slasher Movie Uncut”, published by New Holland Publishers and written by the author J.A.Kerswell who is also the founder of the slasher movie website “Hysteria-Lives!”. Seeing as I have a love for all things “bloody”, I don’t think I could have received a book more interesting on the subject of murder and mayhem nor better written and researched than this. For just ¬£15.99 (but I have a discount code for you) and with 208 pages of detail on the best, and of course worst masked, deformed or inbred psycho killers and slasher movies across the decades, it’s not something to be missed by film students or just plain slasher fans alike. Not to mention that for such a big book, the fact it is paperback makes it a lot easier on the knees when trying to read on your lap on the sofa!

ATTACK OF THE CLONES!! And no, I’m not talking about Star Wars….

September 6

Ok guys, allow me to get back to what I do best……. MOAN! Anyone who reads me must have noticed that moaning about things is more of a skill of mine than a trait! The only difference is that I’m not moaning about any of you needing to empty the dishwasher or put away your dirty pants. No, I like to moan about anything EXCEPT that! Granted, what I am saying isn’t exactly the equivalent of Aphra Behn or William TURDSworth (yes, I hate fucking romanticism even though I grudgingly admit Wordsworth is a genius) but what is life without a bit of random nonsensical bollocks. Therefore I will do my best to be as cutting and cynical as usual and if I dare forget to use as many “fucks” than usual than please forgive me!

Soooooooo, my title must be a little confusing at the moment. “Attack Of The Clones and NOT Star Wars” eh?? Well, never fear mes amis because what I am talking about you will all have come in contact with at some point. Some will ADORE it and be a completely obsessive psycho about it whilst others will endure the bouts of sick that frequently enter their mouths at the sights and sounds of such things. Because what I am referring to is ANYTHING that has originated from the fucking “Disney Channel” over the last 10 years OR anyone as astonishingly SHITE as Justin-looks 12 and has 20 year old friends-Bieber!

50(ish!) Best Horror Movies!

August 17

This post is about something that I love……. HORROR MOVIES!!! I really don’t know when my love of all things scary started, but it was most likely from my first experience of “Robocop”. I was definitely under 10 years old, my brother 3 years older than me, so he too was too young to see the movie. But as usual, in the holidays when my dad was at work and my mum was ironing in the kitchen e.t.c, my brother would sneakily put on films that he had been banned from watching due to age, hovering by the “eject” button on the VCR, listening to the sound of our mums footsteps in order to get the video out, back in the box and on the shelf before she got to the lounge. He was so good at this to the point that now, in conversations with my mum, my brother will mention scary movies he saw as a child and is forever surprising my mum who was sure that she had done a good job at hiding these videos!

The Disappearance of Alice Creed: My impressions

July 24

SPOILER ALERT!!!!!! DO NOT READ IF YOU DON’T WANT TO KNOW PLOT DETAILS AND ENDING!!

This is just going to be a short post about a British film I saw recently in Lille, France called “The Disappearance of Alice Creed”. (“La Disparition d’Alice Creed” – French title.) Due to my crap French my boyfriend and I went to Le Majestic where the films are in the original version of English with French subtitles. This is of course PERFECT for me whilst I improve my French, but I do find it weird to sit in France, in a cinema in Lille, with other French and watch a movie in English with French subtitles!

First of all though, I must say that I LOVE this cinema! You buy your tickets right by the entrance and then go up a flight of stairs to the screens. Here there is a little sitting area at the top which I thought was lovely, as in the cinema where I live the closest thing you have to a seat other than the ones you sit on to watch the movie is a nasty metal bench which hurts your arse. AND they place these benches right next to the fucking doors so in the winter you can nicely freeze to death.

I am a girl who likes to write. Not particularly about anything informative, just about my life. I write about what I like, what I hate, and anything else I think of that I want to say. I like poetry and renaissance plays, but that is not just who I am. I would like to be a poet, but that does not mean that everything I write will be a poem. It is just a blog for me to take the habit to write, whether it’s poetry, fiction or just¬† plain bullshit. C’est moi, et c’est tout!
